wow......sold, bought and moving in.

Here is my little townhouse.

I am so excited!!

Have booked in the painter and he is arriving first thing Monday morning, picked Lexicon quarter strength and am thrilled to say that I think there may be Florence Broadhurst feature happening in the bedroom.

Am about to book in the flooring dude who can start straight after the painter as there is carpet everywhere and I am dreaming of limewash flooring.......

Please excuse the quality of the photos...they are from my camera...my blog will be turning into more of a scrapbook and mood board for my new abode.....

hmmmm as you can see....there is a lot of work to be done......the salmon blinds must must must go, I have samples arriving on Monday!!!

woo hoo.......a received a phone call last night that my little order was ready for collection so I rushed out after the gym today with quiet excitement to pick up my latest purchase............after some blood sweat, swearing and tears - I am very pleased with the result.....

They are made of sheet metal and are very rustic in design.....I love them :)

Browsing through the photos on my camera, I realise that my design process is probably not the most practical or even the most kind to my gorgeous helpful daughter who walked around the room with a practice letter while I barked orders like "try there" "don't scratch my wall" "try over here" "we aren't finished yet" "stay there" "hold it !!!" etc etc

but hey...I love the result :) xxx

I have a wall in our living room (pictured above)....

it has been white...then it was green.......white again then sand for a day and now is a lovely warm neutral colour that I do adore.....this room has never hit it's mark with me.....its the most changed room in this house.....there are always issues for me....the window sets the space off centre ......I have had issues with the colour of the lounge, the colour of the furniture...I have been through several rugs......issues with having a feature wall......accessories....and artwork....especially the artwork.

I paint most of the wall hangings in my house.....but nothing has ever stayed on this particular wall for too long....nothing has felt just right........... this poor wall has sooooo many paints of coat that my room is starting to close in......and not to mention the amount of holes from picture hooks....oh my goodness I hope my husband never looks toooo closely eeeek !!!!...............

before I turn the wall back to white again one day (which I know I will do) I have found a new solution that may just hit the mark for me...at least for a little while...here is my inspration.....now just waiting for my order to come in wooooo hoooooooooooooooo......

I don't know about your household ....but in my home shoes are never where they are supposed to be.....usually shoved under a desk, often at the bottom of the stairs, at the front door, in the car or laying scattered in front of the tv......I even have a dedicated shoe basket at the bottom of the stairs as an attempt to capture and collect some of these roving items.

These images make me feel a little bit normal and yet also opens the creative mind to ponder that perhaps mislaid shoes are a necessary accessory......what do you think ???

I have such an infinity for the colour orange....it was my bedroom colour growing up in the seventies........polyester orange quilt cover, retro wallpaper with large orange blooms and lots of white furniture.....it conjures upf feelings of security and warmth for me.

Orange is inspiration, it's joyful, social, cheerful and fun. Orange stimulates the appetite and aids digestion, keeps conversation flowing.....it's really just completely fab !!

Papaya is my ultimate shopping destination....a beautiful homewares store that oozes serentity, simplicity and good taste......

Papaya has the most divine calming ambience that envelops you as soon as you step through the front door. They combine pared back tones and sumptious textures that create a laid-back luxe and it all just reeks of good taste.....sigh...I was lucky enough to visit them through these crazy school holidays and spyed my ultimate kitchen table !!!!! .....my husband won't come to the party.....YET !!!! I have probably said this before but i believe that texture is the secret ingredient in a successful room.....texture really does make a colour come to life....

Texture plays with light....shiny, matt or transparent, smooth or rough ... ....textures can touched physically .........the soothing softness of velvet, the rustle of straw, the cool silkiness of satin.....I think the more simple the choice the more important the texture can be.

There needs to be a balance between the hard and soft, shiny and matt to creating the right feel for a space.

In an all white or neutral room adding timber floors, sisal stone, linen, perhaps an old basket can be the missing ingredient in a perfect recipe.

Filling a neutral room with a variety of textures on fabrics, walls and floor will set up a series of surfaces to attract the eye and provide a break from the similarity of colours. Texture helps in achieve harmony in a space rather than uniformity which can be quite dull.

It is WARM..... it radiates OPTIMISM, inspires and raises the spirits.........

at this crazy crazy time in my life I look to yellow to keep me positive and moving forward.....enjoy !!!

The colour yellow appears to advance.......it has the highest reflectivity of any colour !

It's a colour that comes in and out of fashion and will often pop up for spring.....just like the daffodils !

It warms and energises a room instantly....

Softer yellows are more popular and can be used more freely...

Just a hint of yellow delights the senses in a neutral room....

Cheerful, optimistic and bursting with zest for life....

Yellow certainly stimulates my creativity.

We had a wonderful weekend away at a cow farm again this Easter.......fresh air, no hum of traffic, birds chirping, cows mooing.....a calf was born the day we arrived.

On the creative side of things I tried to absorb the amazing array of colour, texture and scent of anything and everything........a lovely time was had by all........

Out browsing this week I came upon the most delicious sofa/lounge.....deep, soft, inviting, even sexy, so texturally touchable...I couldn't keep my hands of it.....the ultimate divine tone of green.....I sat down, sank in and fell in love.

Velvet is really one of the most provocotive fabrics .....you cannot help but react, to touch, it is really quite wickedly sexy. The mere presence of the fabric is capable of physically accelerating my metabollic rate.

Here is a little toast to the rousing, inspiring, elegantly formal or cheekly playful....always eye catching.....velvet.

Blistering heat in Sydney.....

Agh.....too hot to do anything much outside....perfect day to stay at home and play in the air conditioned comfort of my own abode. I have today removed out all blue/teal out of my lounge/dining room......................playing with cushions is a obession of mine.......I now have calming neutral tones.........but no room for a bum!

While I'm here I might show you what I created for Xmas.....which I have now kept but without the xmas theme....... now when I say "I" created........it really means my dad made for me :) We collected twigs from local trees and spray painted them .....

It's doesn't photograph very well.......or maybe it just isn't as cute as I think it is ......it especially looked cute at xmas time when I hung Chrissy decorations from it.....I promise........now I am collecting little birds and dragonflys to adorn my little tree.

Shall we keep going ??....... I'll show you where my new table is going to go when I finally make a decision.....and when credit crunch time is over..........but I think I may be waiting quite a while......it's fun looking in the meantime.

As you walk in my front door it's pretty much the first thing you see....formal lounge on right (also known as "The Sacred Room" to my children) .......stair case on left and at the end...taa daaaaa
